On Thursday, October, 11th local community members came out to the Wal-Mart in Hallandale Beach to support workers who held a two day strike to highlight unfair working conditions. Around one hundred residents came out to show their solidarity with the striking workers.
The Wal-Mart employees who went on a symbolic two-day strike, traveled to the company’s corporate headquarters in Arkansas on Wednesday, where they joined hundreds of other striking workers to protest Wal-Mart’s attempts to silence those who speak out. The community rallied around them as they returned to South Florida Thursday, attempting to go back to work.
As striking workers from Wal-Mart’s stores, contracted warehouses and distribution centers embarked on the retail giant’s headquarters in Arkansas during its Annual Financial Analysts meeting, communities across the country showed their support for changes at Wal-Mart stores across the country.
